THINGS went to plan for Premier Division leaders Bremhill View who, thanks to a 5-0 victory at third division top dogs Faded FC, booked their place in the semi-finals of Gooding Accounts-sponsored Subsidiary Cup by finishing top of Group A.

Alex Lewis put Bremhill ahead with a stunning volley which was followed by two excellent long-range strikes from Billy Gleed to give them a 3-0 interval lead.

Two more goals from Gleed in the second period capped their five-star performance.

Second division Semington FC and Corsham Youth from the Premier Division met in a winner-takes-all clash at Little Marsh and it was the latter who came out on top.

A 2-1 success for James Whitehead’s teams means that they finish top of Group B.

Semington’s Mike Stevens threatened a cup shock when he gave his team a half-time lead.

After the break, Corsham turned things around and got back on level terms through Simon Gray before Craig Gingell netted the winner. Nick Gingell also missed a penalty for the winners.

With both the The Mallard and Sutton Benger playing for nothing more than pride in Group B’s other game, it was Benger who won the day.

Chris Miles, Ben Butterfield, Tom Merriman, Dan Smith and Simon McCarthy with two shared the goals in a 6-0 win.

Second division Westbury Conservative Club and their first division opponents Oakhill went into their game at Boreham Field neck and neck at the top of Group C and it was Oakhill who progressed to the semi-finals courtesy of a 7-5 triumph.

Cons’ Club lead 2-0 and 4-2 before Oakhill finally put the game to bed. Ryan Underwood’s hat-trick and a Steve Ball double were not enough for the Cons’ Club as Shamus Mooney’s treble and singles for Josh Beard (penalty), Connor Laidlaw, Sam Clark and Kez Mooney earned Oakhill their place in the final four.

Before the competition started, Calne BFC were flying high at the top of Division One and tipped to do well.

However they never lived up to expectations and a 3-1 win at third division Forest AFC got them their first points on the board.

But for Chris Edes team it was a case of too little, too late. Sam Barton, Darren Holcombe and Tom Richards were on target for Calne with Callum Grant scoring for Forest.

With two victories form their opening two games in Group D, FC Bradford were as good as guaranteed a place in the semi-finals.

This was confirmed after the first division side beat third division The Foresters Arms 4-2 to finish top of the table with maximum points.

Sean Horobin and Jordan O’Dwyer scored Foresters’ consolations after Lee Ridout, Mark Maguire with two and Mike Evans had put Bradford 4-0 ahead.

Third division stablemates Old Road FC and FC North Wiltshire paired up in what was really a dead rubber, but didn’t stop the teams from producing a goal-fest which Old Road won 8-6.

Matt Croston bagged a hat-trick for Old Road, Zak Sallows and Jake Collins scoring two each with 17-year-old Conor Moloney, in only his second appearance in adult football, scoring the eighth.

Richard Tandy with three, David Biggs, Tom Martin and an own goal made up North Wilts' half dozen.
