FOR the first time since Biddestone Social lifted the Wiltshire Sunday Cup back in 2013, the Chippenham & District Sunday League had a representative in the final in the guise of The Dursley Arms.

HAVING already accounted for leading Swindon League sides Greyhound, holders FC Walcot and Deers Leap, the Arms saved their best to last as a thumping 9-0 victory over Mark Tring’s AFC Gas saw them end the league’s barren run.

Joe Kirkpatrick’s side ended their debut season in the competition with a ruthless display in the sunshine at Royal Wootton Bassett and they were given the perfect start when Jordan Pinder gave them lead on two minutes.

Pinder added his and Dursley’s second on 19 minutes and when Leon Greenland struck twice between the 26th and 28th minutes to make it 4-0, Gas were a beaten side.

Martin Johnson added a fifth prior to half time and there was on let up in the second half as Dursley ran in a further four unanswered goals.

Dursley had to wait until the 62nd minute before number six arrived, Greenland netting to complete his hat-trick.

Sean Bereton made it 7-0 in the 68th minute before Leon Greenland scored from the penalty spot on 80 minutes and then again on 90 minutes to complete the rout with his fifth and Dursley’s ninth.
