WHAT was expected to be a walk in the park for Division One champions Pheasant FC at local rivals Oakhill on Thursday evening was anything but as Del Llewellyn’s table-toppers needed a late goal to claim a 5-4 victory over the team they had beaten 4-1 earlier in the season.
Goals from Martin Riddell and a sublime strike from Joey Hylands saw Pheasant take a 2-0 lead.
Sam Clark halved the deficit for Oakhill, who found themselves 3-1 down at the break after Josh Legg finished well for the champions.
Oakhill started the second half well with Ishen Pantry pulling a goal back, however Pheasant reclaimed their two-goal cushion thanks to a thunderbolt header from Hylands.
Quick-fire goals from Nathan Merrett and Connor Laidlaw got Oakhill back on level terms at 4-4, but it wasn’t enough as a last-minute lob from Hylands saw him complete a brilliant hat-trick and earn Pheasant their 5-4 success.
