DIVISION ONE PREVIEW: Relegation battle at Beversbrook
1:00pm Friday 6th April 2012 in Sport
PROBABLY one of the biggest games anywhere in the league this Sunday is the one at Beversbrook, Calne.
Hosts North Star A welcome Bromham (Sunday) with both sides fighting to stay in the division. When the sides met in December they fought out a 2-2 draw and should they produce another stalemate, and other results go their way, then North Star would move out of the bottom two.
A win for Bromham would take them off the foot of the table and in a position of safety for the first time since last October.
The result is likely to be a close one with Bromham predicted to claim a low scoring win. Bradford Renegades will be hoping to build on their Thursday night win over Bromham (Sunday) when they visit fierce rivals Crown FC (Rowde) who they have already beaten twice this term.
Neither team have been at their best this campaign, but as Renegades won the previous meeting 7-2 they will start the game as firm favourites to return home with two more points.
FC Colerne will move into third place in the rankings if as expected their beat a struggling Green Bell FC side at their Bath Road base.
Green Bell who are in danger of relegation would love to upset the formbook but their hosts are the in-form side in the division with seven successive wins and a 13-match unbeaten run to their name so it will be hard for Paul Clark’s side to get anything from the game.
Just four days after they met each other at Yatton Road, FC Jager and Biddestone White Horse line up at The Beeches, Shaw.
Barry Holloway’s hosts Jager are looking to follow up their 4-2 success of Thursday evening with another two points that would see them open up a three-point lead at the top of the table.
Jager will again be pushed all the way by a hard-working Biddestone side and although they should deny their hosts victory they may nick a point that would throw the title race wide open again.
