AS EXPECTED, FC Boroughs are the new leaders of Division Two.

The Malmesbury side started the day in second place but with polesitters Sutton Benger without a game, Boroughs' visit to Miller Sports which yielded two points saw them move level on points with Benger at the top of the pile.

Boroughs made hay in the spring sunshine as they cruised to a 7-1 win but, with the race for the title still wide open, they know that they are going to have to win their final game of the season against Westbury Rangers B for them to have any chance of finishing in the top two, let alone as champions.

A double from Matt Tupper and singles from Sam Jenner and Jake Fortune who netted a 30 yard wonder goal gave Boroughs a 4-0 interval lead. Tupper completed his hat-trick in the second half, Sam Jenner added a second and George Harding’s third of the campaign made up Borough’s seven. Steve Shipway replied for Miller Sports.

CHIPPENHAM West End’s saw their hopes of a top finish suffer a setback at Westbury Rangers B whose 2-1 win took their unbeaten run to six matches and moved them into third place with an outside chance of stealing one of the automatic promotion places.

A stunning free kick from Dan Cox put Westbury in front and they doubled their lead when mix up in West End’s midfield saw them give the ball away and they were caught on the break with Matty Mead scoring Westbury’s second.

A spirited second-half comeback from the West End brought them back into the game and they reduced the arrears when Matt Payne scored from the penalty spot after Scott Nash had been brought down.

West End maintained the pressure as they searched for an equaliser but it wasn’t to be as Westbury held out for victory.
