DIVISION FOUR: Youngsters star in Buscots win
6:00am Tuesday 10th April 2012 in Div 4
Mallard FC and The Buscots brought the curtain down on their campaign in a scrappy game at Goatacre which saw Buscots win 4-1.
Buscots super-sub Scott Stroud played a neat one-two with Phil Little 15 minutes in, Stroud then outpaced the centre back to hit lame shot which was helped in by the hosts keeper. Five minutes later, Angus Webster’s delightful corner was met by the head of James Grist, who in turn scored his fifth of the season - Webster then added the third with another header form Liam Wilkins' direct corner.
The second half saw the home side open the game up a little, with Buscots keeper James Baggott coming out on pitch for the first time this season.
The Buscots were fielding three 16-year-olds fresh in their first season of adult football, all from the Devizes Town Youth football set up.
Lee Craddock managed to grab what was nothing more than a consolation for Mallard and continued a team celebration that was better than the goal itself.
The final goal came with 12 minutes to go when Grist’s long freekick was bought down by James Moore who showed the strikers of the Buscots how to finish.
Cavalier FC 1 Fortune Inn FC 13
Having clinched the runners-up spot last weekend, Fortune Inn were on top form when they visited a struggling Cavalier FC side for who it was an unlucky day as their Chippenham based opponents hit the goal trail and ran out 13-1 winners.
Goals from Joe Hylands, Ryan Kubilius and Richie Bolter gave Fortune a 3-0 lead at the break and at that stage, there was no indication of the goal rush that was to follow in the second period as Fortune found their Midis touch in front of goal.
Bolter scored a further three to take his tally for the game to four and the season so far to 51.
Matty Jenkins claimed a hat trick as did Kubilius, who added two to his first half effort to complete his three timer.
A second of the game from Hylands and Justin Derby’s first since October made up Fortune’s thirteen goals. Josh Scott reply for Cavalier with his first ever goal for the club.
