DIVISION FOUR PREVIEW: Mallard bid to end winless run
5:00pm Friday 9th March 2012 in Sport
DIVISION Four basement side Mallard FC will bid to end their six-match losing run when they lock horns with FC North Wiltshire for the first time this term.
North Wilts, who joined the league at the start of the season, made a sluggish start and took nine games to register their first win.
But five wins in their following nine has seen them climb the table to eighth and it would be a surprise if Mallard managed to deny them another two points.
Leaders PSC Galaxy will move to within one point of being crowned champions if they beat Cavalier at Northbrook this Sunday.
Galaxy, who have won all 17 of their games to date, need one more goal to top the 100 mark.
Seeing as Cavalier have lost six on the bounce and have shipped 32 goals in their four games, it will take something special from Roger Wiltshire’s side to deny Galaxy victory as they home in on the title.
Fortune Inn saw their title hopes derailed last weekend following their defeat against The Buscots.
However, Budge Hylands side are very much in the driving seat for the runners up spot, although with Buscots breathing down their necks they can’t afford many more slip ups.
Fortune, who host Crossblades at Stanley Park, should close the gap on second-placed Rose & Crown, who have finished the season, with a comfortable win over Tim Chilton’s side who they have already beaten 7-0 this term.
Sportzcoach United are next up for an in-form Buscots side, who will be hoping for a seventh straight victory which would keep their slim hopes of beating Fortune Inn to the second automatic promotion spot alive.
Goals from Adam Bewley and Ali Bradley earned Buscots a 2-1 win when the teams first met back in early September.
Buscots are tipped to win again with a far more convincing success.
