DIVISION TWO PREVIEW: Top sides meet on Super Sunday
12:30pm Friday 13th April 2012 in News
All five of the sides still in the hunt to become Division Two champions are in action this weekend with the match of the day possibly being the one at St Mary’s, where leaders Steeple Ashton Rangers host near neighbours Southwick Wanderers in what is a win or bust game for the home side.
Ashton thumped their guests 10-1 in the reverse fixture but Southwick followed that loss up with a 3-0 win over their hosts in the Knockout Cup - a lot will depend on which Southwick team turns up on the day but with Ashton needing the win the most, they may just sneak a narrow win.
Over at Leafy Lane there is another massive game in the promotion race as hosts Corsham United take on Chippenham West End in what will be the first of two meeting between the sides.
Corsham are down in fifth place and Chippenham just above them and a defeat for either side would definitely kill of their hopes of promotion, so with everything to play for, this promises to be a very entertaining game between what will be two fully committed sides.
Second in the table FC Boroughs travel to Meadow Lane where they face the division's in-form side in Westbury Rangers B and a win for Westbury, who are unbeaten in six, would put them on 20 points with a host of other sides.
Boroughs themselves are unbeaten in nine but six draws in that run may come back to haunt them - the neutral fan maybe be rooting for a Boroughs' win as had Blue Circle and then Lavington not withdrawn from the league, they would have been nicely placed for promotion, but it comes down to this game which they need to get something from if they are to keep their title hopes alive.
Boroughs won the reverse fixture but may have to settle for a draw in this one.
