KNOCKOUT CUP: Jager ease into final

DIVISION ONE high flyers FC Jager had a comfortable passage to the final of this season's reebrooks print media-sponsored Eric Hughes Memorial Knockout Cup with a 6-0 win over second division Corsham United in their delayed semi-final clash at Meadow Lane-Westbury.

Jager enjoyed the majority of possession for the first half but only managed a 2-0 lead at the interval.

Dan Moore scored both of Jager's first-half goals, the first saw Moore capitalise on a dreadful back pass to slot home.

The second was a simple finish, Jagers Ashley Barnett was clean through on goal-but a fantastic last ditch tackle denied him a goal.

Barnett somehow managed to knock the ball to Dan Moore-who was unmarked from 14 yards out and the striker placed well into the bottom corner.

Jager killed the tie off early into the second half, Moore stepped up to complete a potential hat-trick from the penalty spot, but his shot was saved by Dayle Townsend.

Unfortunately for Corsham, James Eatough was on hand to smash the rebound into the roof of the net for 3-0.

Moore went on to score a further two goals to take his tally for the day to four.

Jager's fifth came courtesy of a bizarre own goal from Jake Marshall. The defender somehow managed to smash the ball into the top corner from distance, which any striker would have been proud of.

FC Jager now face top flight Bug and Spider in the final on April 15t at Corsham Town FC in what promises be a fantastic final between two attacking teams.
