LEAGUE AWARDS NIGHT: Top whistlers rewarded

LEAGUE referees’ appointment secretary Gary Stonham presented the best level five, six and seven referees with their awards.

Devizes-based Neil Fautley was voted best level five official after a year out, while Neil Hawker, from Westbury, picked up the best level six award. Melksham-based Sam Allison walked away with top level seven award.

The former Chippenham Town player, who is in only his first full season on the league, is emerging as a top official with the clubs for his all-round attitude and know-how.

Stonham also presented 10-year service awards to Roger Smith and Oderico Rossi and a 30-year award to Chippenham based whistler Ady Hunt.

The Top Club assistant referee’s awards saw Bill Bayley, who walked away with the award at Cooper Avon last year, claim the Premier division honour for his work with AFC Melksham this season.

Colin Lewis, from Bradford News, took the Division One award.

Geoff Thompson, also club secretary at Christian Malford, was the best assistant in Division Three. Clive Harding, from newcomers Fortune Inn, won the Division Four accolade, while Stuart Wilkins from Division Two side Corsham United picked up the overall award.
