THE ONLY fixture in the S.K. Fruits Ltd Chippenham & Distcit Sunday League that survived the weather saw third division Sportzcoach Dragonz United upset the odds to beat first division Somerford in the WG Parr Trophy.

What was expected to be a David verses Goliath contest didn’t go to script as Sportzcoach, who were given a small chance of conjuring up a cup shock, tore up the formbook as they came from a goal down to beat their hosts 3-1 and book themselves a spot in the semi-finals.

It looked as if the pundits had got things right when Lee Fernandez gave Somerford an early lead but the hosts were unable to make their early pressure count and Sportzcoach fashioned themselves an equaliser before half-time, with Shaun Heathcote restoring parity.

Sportzcoach got a lucky break in the second half, with Dean Shaw making the most of the conditions to give the Melksham-based side the lead and although Somerford huffed and puffed as they looked for a way back into the game, the visitors to Great Somerford showed their battling qualities as they kept their hosts at bay.

Sportzcoach eventually put the game to bed when top scorer Dan Moore netted their third of the morning to round off victory.
