CHIPPENHAM Town midfielder Iain Harvey thought that his side were good value for their derby victory over Frome Town in the FA Trophy last weekend.

The Bluebirds ran out 3-1 winners at Hardenhuish Park to book a second qualifying round tie with Bedford Town on November 15, with the visitors having both Jon Vance and Josh Klein-Davies sent off in quick succession midway through the second period.

Vance was dismissed for kicking out at former Frome man Luke Ballinger whilst striker Klein-Davies was red-carded by referee Adam Matthews for his part in the ensuing melee.

Meanwhile, Chippenham debutant Mark Francis netted against the side he left just days earlier whilst Darren Edwards scored twice for Mark Collier’s side.

“Whenever you play against Frome, there’s always a bit of needle to it. It’s a local derby and you expect it to be fiery,” said Harvey.

“There’s not so many anymore but there’s always been a lot of lads that have played for both teams. They’re a good side, like every team in our league, but I think we’ve usually had the better of it against them.

“I thought that we dictated the game in the first half and even though we didn’t really push on when they went down to nine, there weren’t really any jitters at the end. We just wanted to win a game because the results haven’t been great recently.

“I thought the new lad (Mark Francis) looked very good and he worked well with Darren (Edwards), who had a good game.

“From what I’m told, the first red card was pretty blatant and the lad had to go. I didn’t really see what happened with Josh Klein-Davies because there were just people pushing everywhere but Tinds’ (Greg Tindle) shirt was ripped to pieces, so the referee’s obviously seen what he’s seen.

Harvey added: “We’ve been unlucky with injuries but I think that when we get everyone back, we’ve got a really good squad.

“Hopefully we can push on and get higher up the league and have a good cup run too.”
