PAUL Shanley says Bradford Town are already at fever pitch ahead of their impending FA Cup clash with Chippenham Town.

Bradford pulled off a shock 2-0 replay success over Southern League Premier Division side Hungerford Town in the first qualifying round on Wednesday night, setting up a mouth-watering tie against the Bluebirds.

Having already masterminded victory over one higher league team, Shanley sees no reason why Bradford cannot do it again in a match he labelled the biggest in their history.

“I’m absolutely over the moon. It’s an excellent result. I’m so proud of the players,” said Shanley, whose side held Hungerford to a 1-1 draw in Saturday’s original fixture.

“Normally when you get these games the underdog only gets that one opportunity, but we were even better on Wednesday than we were on Saturday.

“It’s the FA Cup and it’ll be another special game. We had some big games last year against Melksham and Highworth in the Vase but this will be even bigger. I think the biggest we’ve ever had.

“Hopefully we can go into it with the same mindset as we did against Hungerford and get another good result.”

For now, though, Shanley’s focus is translating their FA Cup heroics into league points when they host Longwell Green Sports on Saturday.

Bradford have picked up just seven points from their six Toolstation Premier matches so far and Shanley says that must improve.

“This is the big thing for us, we must carry this into the league,” said Shanley.

“When we are at it, with the quality we have, nine times out of ten we will get the result. We have to make sure we get three points against Longwell Green and start pushing towards that top six.”
