MARK Collier could not hide his disappointment over Chippenham Town’s early exit from the FA Trophy this afternoon.

The Bluebirds’ interest in the Trophy was ended at the first qualifying round stage as they went down 2-1 at league rivals Dorchester Town, with two late goals accounting for Collier’s men in Dorset.

Matt Jones’ long-range effort had put Chippenham in control but with around five minutes of normal time remaining, Ben Watson netted before Matt Oldring flicked in the winner moments later.

“At the end of the game, we had a very disappointed group of players in the dressing room because it was a bitter pill to swallow,” said Collier.

“It was quite an even game. We created a few chances and Kent (Kauppinen) has had a save to make and at 1-0 up, you think that we’re going to go on and win the game.

“But they scored in around the 85th minute and again in the 89th. It’s disappointing but we have to move on.

“We want to win every game, whether it be a pre-season friendly or a game in the FA Cup or the FA Trophy, but unfortunately, we’re not going to have a run in the competition now.

“But the league has always been our focus and we’re still in a good position, so we’ll get ready and concentrate on the game against Redditch next Saturday.”
