A BELOW-PAR second-half performance from the Bluebirds saw Redditch hit three goals without reply as Chippenham slipped out of the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division play-off places, having led the table for several weeks.

The first chance saw Redditch’s Troy Baker’s shot saved by Kent Kauppinen.

On six minutes Matt Smith’s looping cross found Matt Jones who placed his headed effort wide of Jose Veiga but the ball hit the bar.

Smith then volleyed over following a Michael Pook throw whilst Luke Shearer found room for himself in the box but fired over.

On 13 minutes Andy Sandell’s shot lacked the power to beat Jose Veiga.

The lively Daniel Dubidat then saw his angled shot held by Kauppinen. Jones’s fortieth minute cross cum shot was held by Veiga.

A minute before the interval Shearer’s shot deflected off a home defender to Kauppinen.

After the interval Smith found Ballinger out wide and his low shot went across the face of goal and just past the far post.

Baker then saw an effort deflected behind whilst Dubidat curled a shot over.

On 55 minutes Jones had to stretch to reach Ashan Holgate’s flick-on and his shot was high.

A minute later Ashley Sammons recently signed from Kidderminster Harriers was given space out wide and he jinked past Scott Bevan before firing home.

A quickly-taken free kick by Chris Allen then found Ballinger whose shot beat Veiga but hit the bar.

Redditch doubled their lead on 68 minutes when Mark Preece fouled Luke Shearer in the area and Shearer himself converted the resultant penalty.

Kent Kauppinen then pulled off a superb point blank save to deny Daniel Dubidat, but the Chippenham stopper could do nothing to stop a fine individual goal by Max Loveridge seven minutes from time.

The final chance fell to Mark Preece a minute from time but his near post shot was held by Veiga.
