CHIPPENHAM Town head to Redditch United tonight with just pride to play for after their hopes of sneaking back into the play-offs were brought to an end this week.
Redditch’s 2-1 victory over Kettering Town on Monday, coupled with Hungerford Town’s 3-0 win at Histon on Tuesday night, means that a place in the end-of-season promotion lottery is now beyond Mark Collier’s Bluebirds.
Chippenham make the trip to Worcestershire after their original clash with Redditch last weekend was postponed due to waterlogged pitch.
The Bluebirds have remained in the mix towards the top of the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division for most of the current campaign and they suffered just five league defeats in the opening five months of the season.
Barring a loss in the Red Insure Cup, Chippenham were also unbeaten in January but their form nosedived in March, with Collier’s men going seven matches without a win.
The Bluebirds can still finish as high as sixth and bring the curtain down on their campaign when they host Paulton Rovers on Saturday.
