CHIPPENHAM Town’s preparations for their assault on the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division title next season have received a significant boost with top scorer Andy Sandell committing himself to the Hardenhuish Park club.

Sandell, 32, finished as the top scorer in the division last term after being snapped up by Bluebirds boss Mark Collier following his release from League Two Newport County and has agreed to stay with the Wiltshire side for the 2016-17 campaign.

The 22-goal frontman is due to be presented with an engraved golden boot for his scoring feats in league and cup last season, which saw him finish one strike ahead of a chasing pack of three players, including teammate Ben Whitehead.

Collier had made retaining the services of Sandell, who also holds a commercial role at the club, his top priority as he plotted an improvement on his side’s nearmiss this season.

Meanwhile, Chippenham Town skipper Greg Tindle bagged the main prizes at the club’s end-ofseason presentation evening.

Captain Tindle was named players’ player of the year and manager’s player of the year at the event, also picking up the supporters’ player of the year and Bluebirds supporters player of the year accolades.

For Toolstation League First Division side Chippenham Park, Mark Robinson was named manager’s player of the year with Jamie Norman scooping the young player and players’ player prizes.

Ajay Arithoppah secured the manager’s player gong for Chippenham Park FC Development, Robbie Tripp being players’ player winner and Tom Harvey the top young player.

At Under 18 level, Nick Mills, Norman and Arron Witchell carried home the manager’s player, senior player and junior player awards respectively.

Other awards saw John Applegate handed the Arthur Wimble Endeavour accolade and the Clubman prize went to Tony and Angela Summers and Andrea Grafton.
