CHIPPENHAM Town produced their most polished and professional performance of the season - the ideal antidote to Tuesday's disappointing defeat to Banbury United - as they accounted for National South side Poole Town in second round qualifying of the FA Cup.

Last season's Southern Premier Division champions had no answer to the slick passing game of the Bluebirds, with strike partners Andy Sandell and Dave Pratt causing havoc in the Dolphins' defence.

After Nick Hutchings had saved Pratt's second-minute header, Chippenham took the lead eight minutes later as Sandell robbed Lewis Lindsay and drove into the area. Hutchings blocked his original shot but Sandell made no mistake with the rebound.

On 14 minutes Mark Preece's shot was blocked on the line, whilst Poole lost midfielder Carl Pettifer to injury on 28 minutes. Five minutes later on-loan AFC Bournemouth striker Sam Surridge was booked for diving, with Greg Tindle also receiving a card for his reaction.

Matt Smith saw his low long-range shot go wide whilst at the other end Steve Devlin's long cross ended with Surridge's header being well saved by Kent Kauppinen.

Before the break Smith found Pratt at the far post and Hutchings did well to race off his line to block his angled shot.

In stoppage time Pratt laid the ball back to Alex Ferguson and his shot went narrowly wide.

Five minutes into the second half Will Spetch was fortunate when his attempted clearance hit the underside of the bar before bouncing down on the line and being cleared.

On 59 minutes Michael Walker fouled Pratt in the area and Sandell converted the resultant penalty.

Poole responded by taking off Walker and Surridge and bringing on two attacking players in Lee Wort and Richard Gillespie.

In a rare Poole raid Luke Burbidge fired wide on 67 minutes. Two minutes later Sandell made the game safe as he recorded his hat-trick.

Hutchings could only parry Pratt's shot and Ferguson headed the ball back across goal for Sandell to head home from close in.

On 72 minutes Pratt scored the goal his contribution deserved when he latched on to a through ball. Despite being forced wide his shot was so venomous that Hutchings could only push the ball over his head and into the net.

Three minutes later Gillespie shot against a post and the ball was crossed to Wort who headed home.

Although there was time for a comeback it never materialised as the home defence comfortably kept Poole at bay, the only chance coming in stoppage time when Gillespie's shot was blocked on the line by substitute Alan Griffin.
