CHIPPENHAM Town fell to a shock defeat in the Forest of Dean as bottom side Cinderford Town recorded only their third league victory of the season.

Mark Collier named the same starting XI as the one that four days earlier had thrashed Cambridge City 5-0, with no place on the bench for new signing Mario Mateus.

The Gloucestershire side recently appointed Paul Michael as their new manager and the introduction of several new players certainly inspired the home side.

One of those, 20 year old keeper Cameron Clarke was in inspired form although he was indebted to his defence who cleared five Chippenham efforts off the line.

In all, the Bluebirds created over two dozen chances but it was never going to be their night especially when the fell behind on 20 minutes to a goal from Cinderford’s leading scorer Gethyn Hill.

Seven minutes later Andy Sandell restored parity from the penalty spot.

However, the Bluebirds failed to capitalise from the equaliser and again fell behind on 34 minutes when Hill was again involved as defender Blaine Waugh found the net.

The decisive third Cinderford goal came nine minutes into the second half with Hill again on target.

Despite dominating Chippenham could only pierce the Cinderford defence once more when Dave Pratt scored six minutes from time.
