CHIPPENHAM Town manager Mark Collier says he is feeling at ease regarding the club’s bid for survival after the Bluebirds tallied another three points on Saturday.

Collier’s men proved too strong for Eastbourne Borough as they races into a 3-0 lead at half-time with Alex Ferguson, Andy Sandell and Josh Smile all notching.

In the second half, Karnell Chambers added a fourth and completed a 4-0 for the home side at Hardenhuish Park.

The result means Chippenham have now lost just once in six league games, a run which has seen them pull clear of the National League South relegation places.

“I’m relatively comfortable. However, you always think that you need one more point or one more win,” said Collier.

“It is what it is. We have five games left and that means we have 15 points on offer and I imagine we are pretty sure we will be way up on the form table

“I’m really happy with the way the players have performed over the last six weeks because that has been while where we were under a lot of pressure.”

While Collier was delighted with the performance, he also believes a clinical edge made all the difference as his troops dominated from start to finish.

“To be 3-0 up at half-time, that certainly isn’t the norm in this division so that was particularly pleasing,” he said.

“We said to the players at half-time to make the most of it.

"I was very keen to stress that Eastbourne would have wanted to get the first goal in the second half.

“We managed to weather that little storm and we had a foothold in the game for 85 per cent of the game.

"It was a dominant performance.

“It’s possible that was the most clinical we have been all year.

"We were very good against Weston-Super-Mare a few weeks ago (a 2-0 win), but we looked a threat going forward.

Chippenham have a quick turnaround for their next fixture, as they make the short trip to Oxford City on Monday afternoon.
