Win takes FC Chippenham closer to title


Chippenham Sunday League Division Three

Chippenham side The Three Crowns United moved another step closer to taking the title with a 5-0 victory over Crown FC who had beaten United 7-2 back in October.

Marcus Young gave United the lead before Tom Perkins brilliant header into his own met made it 2-0.

A stunning 35 yarder from Kelvin Page gave United a three-goal lead at the interval and a second half double from Page saw him complete his hat trick and the scoring for United. Bromham (Sunday) stretched their unbeaten run to 14 matches after they defeated Trowbridge Town Supporters’ Club 5-0 at the Jubilee Fields with all the goals coming in the first 45 minutes.

Most of the damage was done in the opening 15 minutes as Freddie Paget scored twice, Jim Sandiford, Danny Fennell and Ali Bradley scored the other goals that make Bromham the favourites for promotion along with long time leaders Three Crowns.

Pack Horse Rangers took the lead against Corsham United through a stunning free kick from Simon Reid.

But it was United who hit back to take the points with goals from Dan Hughes who cross sailed straight in to make it one each and James Hernandez whose second have strike earned United victory.

Lavington (Sunday) ended their 12 match-losing run with a 3-1 victory over basement side Corsham Park Rangers that took them out of the bottom two. Tom Bishop, James Cullip and Ryan Smith scored for the winners, Martin Perrett was on target for Rangers.

Steeple Ashton Rangers ended a four match winless run with a 3-2 success over near neighbours Southwick Wanderers as At Mary’s.

Marc Sheppard scored a fine double aftet Phil Lewis had set Ashton on their way, Craig Harman and Carl Mackness who at the death was denied by a brilliant Ben King save struck Wanderers goals Bradford based Three Horseshoe Renegades moved into fourth spot courtesy of their 9-1 demolition of Westbury Rangers B at St Laurence School, Lance Davis, Jake Jordan, Sam Jordan and Ricky Montacute scored two apiece and Josh Maguire a fine solo effort to make up Renegades nine before Neil Gordon bagged Rangers consolation.
