Bailey's return gives AFC Melksham a massive boost

HAVING signed on Carl Thomas before the signing-on deadline day to partner either Mark James or Steve Pegler up front for the remainder of the campaign, Mike Rogers, manager of Third Division promotion hopefuls AFC Melksham has revealed that leading scorer Wayne Bailey is set to make an earlier than expected return to action.

Bailey, who damaged the cartilage and medial ligaments in a knee back in October, was expected to miss the whole of the season, but he has been given the all-clear to play again.

Bailey featured in Melksham's recent loss against White Horse FC and showed no ill effects.

Manager Rogers believes that having Bailey back at this stage of the season will be like bringing in a new player to the club.

Bailey, who scored 14 goals in just five matches at the start of the campaign, which included four hat-tricks, will be keen to get back into the action so that he can add to his tally, but with just four matches remaining he his unlikely to get anywhere near the division's top scorer, which in the early days he looked capable of winning.
