Tuesday night match preview

DEVIZES-based Crown Cosmos will tonight hope to sustain the momentum that has seen them move within four points of Division Two leaders Cooper Avon with two victories in the last six days.

Crown Cosmos, who have beaten both Sutton Benger and Bremhill View Social Club recently, are in action again tonight with what should be a comfortable victory over relegation threatened Chippenham Police.

Cosmos defeated the police 5-1 back in September, thanks to a hat-trick from Stuart Skinner and singles from Eliot Williams and David Lloyd and in what is another David versus Goliath battle there should be no way that the police should bother Cosmos.

The boys in blue will go into the encounter on the back of a 5-1 defeat at the hands of White Hart Combe at the weekend and, with the Horse and Groom winning, they are just one point clear of the drop zone.

It would take some kind of miracle to prevent Cosmos from improving on their earlier win as they need plenty of goals to stay in touch with Cooper-Avon who have a better goal difference of plus nine.

For the police it will be their last match at the police headquarters in Devizes as the bulldozers have yet to move in and start work on turning the pitch into a road.

Adam Davey's side would love to bring an end to an era with a victory and they won't go down without a fight but on this occasion they are likely to suffer a knockout blow as Cosmos, who are also in action on Thursday night, look for as many goals as possible, but more importantly the points that would see them close the gap on the leaders to just two.
