BOBBY Mitchell picked up two awards at Semington Rovers presentation evening. The 22-year-old central midfielder scooped the supporters' player of the season award and was also named players' player of the season.
Mitchell was Rovers most consistent player last term and was missed when he couldn't play. He scored four goals, adapted well to Rovers first season in the top flight and his outstanding performances also saw him pick up most votes from his opponents as Rovers player of the season.
The manager's player of the season award went to experienced midfielder Stewart Donohoe. The 30-year-old Donohoe was a rock in midfield, but played in five different positions and never complained once. Donohoe, who bagged four goals, gave 100 per cent all season and was a worthy winner of the honour. The most improved player of the season award went to 17-year-old Simon Partington.
Partington, who plays either at left back or left midfield, has come on leaps and bounds in his first season and is a player to watch for the future. Founder member Kevin Lockwood received a special award for his 11-year association with the club.
Lockwood who has been manager, secretary, player, linesman, kit washer, etc in his time was due to be presented with the Godfrey Larque Memorial Trophy, but unfortunately other commitments meant that Lockwood missed out on collecting his award.
