The Robson Taylor, Chippenham Sunday League held their presentation night and Annual meeting at Gladstone Liberal Club, Chippenham last Wednesday and the big winners on the night were division four outfit AFC Lyneham who received a £250 windfall after topping the fair play charts.
Atworth United’s goalkeeper Joe Menghini won the Gazette & Herald sponsored Player of the Season award, Trevor Rawlings received the Best Secretary award for his work with First division side White Hart Combe and Mark Dolman whose 72 goals for fourth division champions North Star B won him the Gazette & Herald Golden Boot award.
The General meeting was preceded by the League’s presentation night which was opened by Pete Barton from sponsors Robson Taylor presenting the leagues divisional winners and runners up with their trophies along with cheques totaling £775.
Corsham Centre topped the premier division and picked up £125 with Biddestone Social collecting £50 as runners up.
Melksham based Cooper Avon and White Hart Combe will be joining them in the top flight next term as winners and runners up from division one.
Chippenham based Pheasant FC headed division two with FC Bradford taking second spot.
Pole position in the third division went to Three Crowns United from Chippenham who finished two points clear of Bradford on Avon’s Three Horseshoe Renegades.
After almost going out of existence the previous season, North Star B capped a great campaign taking the honours in division four ahead of Corsham Centre B who came unstuck in the final month of the season.
All divisional winners apart from Corsham Centre received £100 each while the runners up collected £50 each.
AFC Lyneham who joined the league in 2007 may not be the best footballing side in the League but they have been voted the best sporting.
Holden’s side were the big winners when the fair play awards were presented along with the £100 for winning their respective division with an incredible average mark of 8.84, they collected a further bonus of £150 as overall winners taking their bounty for the evening to a healthy £250.
Other divisional winners claimed £100 a piece; Holt topped the premier division, Biddestone Arms headed division one, Sutton Benger won the second division fair play race just ahead of the runners up who were The Crown Devizes. Pack Horse Rangers finished top of division three.
There were also cash a bonus for the sides who finished in 2nd and third place in their respective divisions. Miller Sports (Premier), Bradford News (One), The Crown Devizes (Two), Blue Circle (Sunday) (Three) and White Horse FC (Four) all received £60. Dog & Fox Ashley (Premier), Rowde FC (One), Affordable Mortgages Villa (Two), Corsham Park Rangers (Three) and Chippenham United (Four) netted £25 each for finishing 3rd in their respective divisions, these awards and cheques were also presented by Pete Barton from sponsors Robson Taylor.
First Division, Biddestone Arms were also in the money when Wiltshire County FA handed out their fair play awards at their recent AGM, Richard Chaffey collected £300 for finishing in second place in their respective group.
