DIVISION ONE: Cooper Avon will be crowned Division one champions if they can avoid defeat against Rowde FC at the Conigre, Melksham this evening.
Gary Newman’s side are just one point away from a fourth successive promotion which they should achieve and should they get it, it will be the first time that they have topped a table having previously had to second for second best, but now it looks as if they will finally get to walk away as the Bride rather than the bridesmaid.
Rowde will not surrender without a fight as they came back from three goals down to claim a 3-3 draw with Copper in the reverse match a few weeks ago, Copper will be hoping that they face the Rowde side who were beaten 9-1 by White Hart Combe two weeks ago but with some rivalry between the sides, Rowde will want to put Cooper’s title celebrations on hold for a few more days yet.
Copper should take the points that send the champagne flowing, but if Rowde do upset the odds then they know they will have a second chance at the weekend and the bubbly will go back on ice for a few more days yet.
