Westbury end with a revenge victory

DIVISION THREE: Westbury Rangers B may have switched their final match of the season against Lavington (Sunday) from Meadow Lane to Northbrook, and unlike the first meeting of the sides when Westbury were beaten 5-4 by Oliver Hickton’s men, it was Dave Griffin’s side who claimed a 5-2 victory as they avenged their earlier defeat.

Westbury had the bare eleven for their trip to the Northbrook and that included manager Griffin and the ever reliable Mark Durbin having to play the full 90 minutes and it was a corner from Griffin that led to George Wheeler giving Westbury a 1-0 half time lead.

Durbin who usually ends up running the line for Westbury scored early in the second half to give his team a 2-0 lead before Jamie Gale halved the deficit only for Westbury to reclaim a two goal advantage thanks to a second of the match from Durbin.

Lavington narrow the gap once more courtesy of a Ryan Smith goal but when Ian Young scored a fourth for Westbury the victory was sealed and the points were heading back to Meadow Lane.
