PREMIER DIVISION PREVIEW: Westbury out to regain the number one spot

WITH Westbury Rangers A and Biddestone Social locked together on 20 points at the top of the Premier Division, Westbury will be hoping to take full advantage of Social’s Knockout Cup involvement and claim a victory at home to Potterne A, which would see them take over as outright leaders.

THE first of this season’s Eric Hughes Memorial Knockout Cup semi-final ties was won by Westbury Rangers A, who beat Cooper Avon 2-1 in the all-Premier Division tie of the reebrooks print media-sponsored cup competition, to set up a final showdown with either Biddestone Social or The Crown FC.

FOLLOWING hours of torrential rain early on Sunday morning which fell on already-saturated pitches the fixture programme of the Robson Taylor Chippenham & District Sunday League, which had been slowly get back to normal after the snow and frost from earlier in the year, was dealt another severe blow as waterlogged pitched forced the postponement of 18 of the scheduled 29 matches. Only the quick thinking of Biddestone Social’s secretary Jamie Lyons and the generosity of Holt saved the Premier Division from suffering another total wipe out.
