FROME Town manager Adrian Foster would love to see his side become this year’s FA Cup non-league success story.

The Robins put their Southern League Premier Division struggles to one side as they beat Division One South & West Wimborne Town 2-0 in the first qualifying round last Saturday, setting up a trip to Hampshire-based Sydenhams League outfit Folland Sports on September 27.

Second half strikes from Tom Golledge and Matt Smith saw Frome progress past Wimborne and the Foster is hoping that his team will begin to show their true worth now that the Badgers Hill boss has his full squad available for selection.

“We’re not that many games away from the first round proper and trying to go as far as we can has got to be the aim,” said Foster.

“It’s great to get some money in to the club and it’s also great for the players because it’s an achievement to get through the rounds.

“Against sides from higher levels, you know what to expect but in the next round (against Folland), I’m not completely sure what to expect – they’ve got through to this round so they’ll be no mugs and they’ll want to win.

“The Wessex League is the same level to what I’m used to from when I was at Gillingham and these kinds of sides aren’t easy to beat.

“Saturday was the first time that I got the chance to pick from a full squad in ten games. A few guys are missing a bit of match fitness and it’s up to myself and the physio (Dani Tuggey) to get those guys fully-fit.

“We’re not happy with how we’ve started the season and I think it’s a false picture. But it’s up to us, as a team, to prove that.”

Frome host Cambridge City in the league tomorrow before making the lengthy trip to Truro City next Tuesday evening.
