BRADFORD Town manager Paul Shanley was left disappointed after watching his side throw away a two goal lead.

A brace from Sam Jordan gave Bradford a 2-1 half-time lead against Longwell Green Sports before a second-half penalty put the hosts in a commanding position.

However, Bradford continued to push for more goals and came unstuck and the game ended 3-3.

“It is disappointing when you go 3-1 up to draw the game,” said Shanley.

“We just didn’t see the game out really and at this level you have to be able to do that. We felt we could go on and get five or six really but we should have had just shut it out.

“We looked good but we didn’t take our chances to go four or five up and we were punished for collective mistakes at the back.

“Last season we could push on and get the goals but when you go up a level you’ve got to understand that you have to see the game out and concentrate on defending properly.”

Shanley was given the manager of the month award last week as recognition of his side’s fine start to life in the Premier Division, and is preparing his side for a home FA Vase tie against Andover Town on Saturday.

“The award shows what a good start the team have made this season, I think if you take the Brislington game out of it we went the whole of August unbeaten,” he added.

“We know a little bit about Andover and we know it will be a difficult game, which is what you expect from the FA Vase.

“If we can carry on playing how we have been playing in the last few weeks then I don’t see why we can’t win.”
