BRADFORD United made the most of their opportunity in their bid to claim top spot in the Trowbridge Windows & Conservatories-sponsored Trowbridge & District League first division.

With both Freshford United & Castle Combe scheduled for Wiltshire Junior Cup matches, Anthony Ottavanio’s side needed just a point from their game with Semington Magpies to take over at the summit.

They duly obliged by claiming all three points from their 3-1 win over a Magpies side  who led at the interval.

Magpies led at the break through a Sean Meer goal, but were pegged back by Dan Jones. Phil Little’s double won it for the leaders.

Trowbridge Town Reserves and Steeple Ashton met at the Town’s Woodmarsh home looking for their first points of what so far has been a difficult campaign for both Ralph McCaldon’s and Neil Taylor’s sides.

When the teams, who are currently in the division’s drop zone, clashed in the A&B Cup at the back end of September, it was Ashton who prevailed winning 3-2 after extra time.

However, with points being of greater importance in their battle to stay in the division it was Trowbridge who struck gold, winning 4-0 to claim their first win of the season.

James Cameron scored a hat-trick and Ashley Poms the other.
