WITH first division pacesetters Bradford United missing out on a fixture due to a waterlogged pitch at the home of their opponents Trowbridge Town Reserves, if Castle Combe could beat Warminster Town Reserves then Tom Bull’s side would take over at the summit.

Combe duly obliged with a 4-2 win that took them top by virtue of a better goal difference.

Clint Cozens and Robbie Burton put Combe two up before Ollie McFarren struck his first of the season and James Lindsey with his second to date dragged Warminster level.

Despite the spirited comeback, Warminster ran out of steam in the second period and a second goal for Burton and a Will Gale effort secured victory for Combe.

A workmanlike performance from Ben Howe’s North Bradley side earned them a far-from-convincing 4-1 victory at Semington Magpies.

With neither team able to force an opening in the first 45 minutes it was Magpies who took the lead in the second half when Andy Harrison scored from the penalty spot after Liam Snook had been felled by the Bradley keeper.

Jamie Young got Bradley on level terms and Carl Davies put them in front, but their victory was only wrapped up with the introduction of Scott Askew, who came of the bench to add number three before he struck a 30-yard wonder goal to claim his second and Bradley’s fourth of the afternoon.

Askew chested the ball down and rifled it into the roof of the net for a worthy candidate for goal of the season.
