HEYTESBURY and opponents United FC met for a third time this season and, like the two previous encounters that were won by the former, it was the villagers who prevailed for a third time.

Kieron Edwards' side beat United 5-3 in the Knockout Cup back in September just a week after they had won their Division Two clash 7-1 and they followed up those victories with a 3-0 triumph that extended their winning run to eight games.

In what was an evenly-matched first 45 minutes the deadlock was broken a minute before the break when Bradley Edwards' excellent cross was turned into his own net by a United defender in the 44th minute and, incredibly, a minute later Heytesbury had doubled their lead, Edwards heading in a Bradley Edwards' corner for 2-0.

Heytesbury threatened to run away with things in the second half and, had it not been for the heroics of the United keeper Lucasz Bareja and the woodwork, they may well have done so, Bareja producing a string of fine saves to deny Brendan Hind and Chris Baker to name but a few.

But he was powerless to deny the villagers their third which came from the head of Luke Love that gave him his first-ever goal for the club.

With the weather causing disruption to this week's fixture programme, White Horse FC, who had only played just four matches prior to their trip to Culver Close, were grateful that their match with basement side Bradford United Reserves was one of those not to fall victim of the heavy overnight rain.

With Bradford United’s first team without a game the Reserves would have expected to be flush with players for their game against one of the title candidates, but that wasn’t the case as once again Bradford had the bare XI, putting on a good show before losing out 4-0.

In what was a tight first half, White Horse had to wait until the 43rd minute before they got their opening which came via an Allan Clarke penalty.

It took White Horse another 28 minutes before they managed to double their lead, a second penalty from Clarke on the 70th minute making it 2-0.

Darren Fryer started and finished the move that led him adding number three before Steve Munday wrapped things up five minutes from time.
