TREVOR Rawlings will not be taking Corsham Town’s free-scoring form for granted ahead of this Saturday’s trip to Cheddar.

Corsham romped to a 5-0 victory at home to Warminster Town at the weekend to climb into the top six of the table.

Town were 4-1 winners over Calne Town on their previous league outing at the start of the month and have netted five times in two cup victories in between.

Keiron Gleed’s double was the catalyst for victory over Warminster, while Levi Cox, Matt Jenkins and Dan Lardner were also on target.

Boss Rawlings said: “It’s always good to win a local derby but to win 5-0 is extra special.

“It was a real team performance – everyone put a shift in. Too many games this season we’ve started well but let the opposition back in. We kept going right until the end on Saturday.

“We’ve been through stages like this all season when we’ve had a good run but then slipped up. Hopefully we can keep this one going a bit longer.

“It’s always tough going to Cheddar, plus they scored six themselves at Roman Glass at the weekend so that will have given them a huge lift. We know it’s going to be a difficult game.”

Warminster co-chief Derek Graham offered no excuses for the poor performance and conceded his youngsters were simply caught out.

“I’m very disappointed. We started well enough and could have scored a couple but then we let in some soft goals,” said Graham.

“I thought we had sorted the defence out but Saturday was just one of those days.

“But we’ve got a young side and we are going to have games like that. It’s about building for next season and we’ve just got to stick together and see it through.”

Warminster host Keynsham Town on Saturday before Calne visit Weymouth Street on Tuesday.
