WARMINSTER Town joint manager Derek Graham was left to rue a sloppy spell either side of half-time as his side were beaten at home by Calne on Wednesday.

Tom Golledge had put Warminster in front early on but Stu Windsor restored parity for the visitors in first-half stoppage time.

And things went from bad to worse for Graham’s side as the second period got under way as Calne took the lead straight from the kick-off when Harry Boakes found the net.

Warminster tried their best to force a way back into the contest but a third Calne goal from Aaron Hopkins wrapped up the win for the visitors.

“It was unfortunate because we played really well in the first half,” said Graham.

“There was only one team in it and we probably should have gone two or three goals in front.

“There’d been an injury and about five minutes were added on at the end of the first half, and they scored an equaliser with about 30 seconds to go.

“We tried to lift the lads at half-time but they were deflated and Calne came out in the second half and scored straight from the kick-off.

“It was a very disappointing second-half performance. We did create a few chances and although they have got a good goalkeeper, we never really tested him.

“They got a third goal at the end and the scoreline ends up looking worse than it actually was.”

Town had previously been emphatic 5-0 winners over Keynsham Town at Weymouth Street last Saturday.

Golledge fired a hat-trick, while George Butler and Jack Miluk were also on target.

“I was delighted with that,” said Graham.

“Luckily we got an early goal which settled us down and were then 3-0 up at half-time. After that there was only going to be one winner.

“We have got a decent side when we go forward.”

Graham’s side will try to bounce back from the midweek defeat when they travel to Wincanton Town on Saturday.
