PAUL Shanley was in no doubt that a single-goal scoreline flattered Winterbourne United last weekend but was nonetheless delighted to see his Bradford Town side avoid a banana skin.
Bradford have slipped up against the Toolstation League Premier Division’s struggling teams on more than one occasion in recent weeks but took all three points in South Gloucestershire on Saturday.
Midfielder Jack Hiscocks got the decisive match-winner with around 20 minutes on the clock, firing home his fifth goal of the season from the edge of the 18-yard box after a cleared corner.
“It was a very solid team performance from us and the scoreline definitely flattered them,” said Town boss Shanley.
“We had a lot of chances and could have scored a lot more than we did but we got the win and it’s nice to go into the weekend with some confidence.”
Jack Hopper is a doubt for Saturday’s FA Vase fourth round derby against Melksham Town whilst Josh Brigham is suspended.
