JUBILATION quickly turned to despair for Warminster Town as moments after scoring an injury time winner, Derek Graham and Andy Crabtree’s side conceded at the other end and were condemned to defeat by Cheddar.

Warminster struggled to deal with the visitors’ pacey front line early on and found themselves 2-0 down at half-time before Tom Golledge’s tap-in and Otis Young’s lob levelled things up.

Cheddar had a man sent off but rallied to regain the lead and when Mark Breffit fired home a dramatic equaliser in the 92nd minute, the hosts’ celebrations were cut short as the Cheesemen won it at the death.

“We hope the boys learn that from a lack of concentration, they threw a well-deserved point away after such a determined second half,” said Graham.

“Although we’re very disappointed, there were a lot of positives to take from the game.

“With 13 of the 16 players in the squad 22 or under, they showed great character to come back from 2-0 down to get back in the game.

“Also, it was good to see us snatch an equaliser in injury time in a great second half and to watch and Tom Golledge continuing his average of a goal a game since he joined us.

“The team are learning more every week and we can see the improvements. We now have to enjoy the rest of the season and secure enough points to avoid a relegation position, and prepare for next term.

“I'm sure the crowd of 104, although disappointed, will have enjoyed such an exciting game and will come back for more.

“We’re lucky to have such a loyal bunch - we only had about 30 supporter less than Frome Town, who play three divisions ahead.”
