BRADFORD Town's FA Vase dream came to an end in the fifth round as they were beaten 2-0 at home by Wiltshire rivals Highworth Town.

Paul Shanley's men were largely second best and first-half strikes from TJ Bohane and Jon Davoile were enough to see the visitors into the quarter-finals.

There was plenty of spice to the contest at Trowbridge Road, with Highworth's Jonny Aitkenhead and Bradford duo Shaun Percival and Jack Hopper all sent off in a fiery second half.

Highworth got off to the dream start and broke the deadlock with less than five minutes on the clock after Bohane had been sent tumbling just outside the Bradford box.

Brad Clark stepped up and floated a free-kick to the back post, where Bohane lost his marker and headed across goal and inside Chris Snoddy's far post.

Bohane went close to doubling the visitors' lead when he then tried his luck with a free-kick soon afterwards but Snoddy got down well to smother the effort.

Bradford then saw their first sight of goal but skipper Steve Hulbert was unable to keep his acrobatic effort down after a scramble in the box.

Highworth keeper Gary Stevens was then called into action to tip a long-range Percival strike around the post, while Mike Reaney then headed another good chance over the top.

But the visitors survived that spell and doubled their lead two minutes before the break. Bradford failed to properly clear a corner and the ball dropped to Davoile, who curled a cracking strike into the net from 25 yards.

The second half was a scrappy affair, with more fouls than chances as nerves began to set in.

Clark and Bohane both fired efforts over the Bradford bar, while home striker Sam Jordan thought he had a penalty after going down in the box but he had strayed offside when latching onto a through ball.

Momentum seemed to shift Bradford's way when Highworth were reduced to 10 men following a second booking for Aitkenhead but that lasted just five minutes as Percival was shown a straight red for an apparent kick out.

Dan Drewett missed a glorious chance to put the game to bed for Highworth in the dying minutes when he scuffed a shot in the box but there was still time for more Bradford misery as they were reduced to nine when Hopper picked up a second yellow for a foul on Callum Parsons in stoppage time.
