FC BOX Steam Brewery are the new leaders of Division Three.

Phil Webb’s side made the most of Melksham Town A’s inactivity and, following their 10-2 success at The Stiffs, they now top the table by one point from Potterne who themselves could climb to the summit if they beat Melksham next weekend.

Olly Bramell may have given the Brewery Boys the lead, but his goal was eclipsed by Stiffs, Jason Harvey who netted from 60 yards to get his team back on level terms.

However his stunning strike was to be a consolation as Jason Povey put Box back in front before half time.

Povey went on the rampage in the second half as he tore apart what was a depleted Stiffs side who, through injuries, finished the game with nine players.

Povey added a further five goals before Bramell grabbed his second of the game.

Substitute Nigel Penelhum marked his debut for Box with a well taken goal that saw him dance around the Stiffs defence before firing home.

The youthful Tony Patterson outsprinted the Box defence gave the Stiffs their second of the afternoon before Jason Povey bagged his seventh of the game and his 42nd of the season.

With their pitch at Beversbrook failing a late inspection, Potterne FC and Aces FC are to be congratulated for finding another venue at short notice.

With West Lavington now the stage for the top of the table battle, a 4-2 victory for Potterne saw them overcome a potential banana skin to their title challenge.

Darren Lewis saw his opener for the home team cancelled out by Mike Little, however it wasn’t long before Potterne got their noses back in front, Wayne House scoring to make it 2-1.

Potterne extended their lead in the second period courtesy of a second from House and although Kevin Jenn reduced the arrears for Aces they were unable to grab a third.

After both teams had weathered a hail and snow storm the hosts sealed their win when Wayne House smashed home his third of the game to complete a 12th win of the season for Craig Campbell’s side ahead of their crunch meeting with Melksham A.
