HE may have seen his side run in a staggering 11 goals in their emphatic win away at Bishop Sutton on Saturday but Bradford Town boss Paul Shanley reckons they could have had even more.

Star striker Sam Jordan led the onslaught against bottom side Sutton with a rampant five-goal haul, while Mark Chant helped himself to a hat-trick.

Jake Hiscocks, Martin Johnson and Mike Reaney were also on target for Bradford as they climbed into the top six in the table.

Boss Shanley said: “From our point of view you can only beat what’s in front of you.

“I think it was 3-0 after about 15 minutes and we were 5-1 up at half-time and after that it’s about having the right attitude and going out and still doing the right things.

“You can switch off and not put the effort in but we didn’t let that happen and I’m very pleased with the way we went about our business in the second half. We were hungry for more.

“Their keeper pulled off a number of good saves and it could well have been even more emphatic than it was.

“Sam is what he is. He is a finisher and he will punish teams if he’s given the chance.

“And it’s the same with Chanty. He is a proven goalscorer at this level. I’m sure they were both very pleased with their performances at the weekend.”

Bradford’s Les Phillips Cup second round clash away at Welton Rovers was postponed on Tuesday and they return to action in a league game at home to Bitton on Saturday.

“They are a decent side and they have had some good results against teams at the top,” said Shanley, whose side were 4-3 winners in the away match back in September.

“I think it was one of the best performances we’ve had this season when we went there earlier on, but the way they came back in the second half was a credit to them as well.

“I know we won 11-1 last Saturday but every game in this league is a hard game and Bitton will be no different.

“Another three points is what we will be looking for, it doesn’t matter how they might come about.”
