BRADFORD United picked up their first victory in the Centenary Remembrance Cup, and their 3-1 victory over table toppers North Bradley gave them the perfect build-up to next week's Division One top of the table battle with Freshford United.

Bradley were 1-0 up inside the opening minute, Reuben Spong scoring against the Bradford side who were still back in the changing room.

After being caught cold, Bradford slowly got back in the game and fashioned a well taken equaliser midway through the half, as Richie Bliha’s ball over the top found Phil Little who in turn fed Dan Jones who fired in from 12 yards.

Bradford started the second half in top gear and thought they had taken the lead on 60 minutes on for Ryan Mortimer to have his effort ruled out for offside. Mortimer however wasn’t to be denied a second time and put the hosts 2-1 ahead.

The win was confirmed three minutes from time, after Bradley’s Matt Jones had upended Theo Sing. The striker who had proved a handful all game for the visitors picked himself up to score the resulting penalty and seal victory for Anthony Ottavanio’s side.

Hilperton United and near-neighbours Semington Magpies played out a 1-1 draw at Whaddon Lane in the Centenary Remembrance Cup.

After neither team were able to make a breakthrough in the first half it was Hilperton who took the lead courtesy of Ben Smith and his goal looked as if it would be enough.

However with three minutes remaining Magpies snatched a share of the spoils, the ball coming off the shin of Sean Meer to earn Dave Jenkins team their point.

Warminster Town Reserves followed up their 3-3 stalemate with Bradford United on Tuesday evening with another 1-1 draw at home to Castle Combe which as things currently stand means the sides are respectively third and second in the Centenary Remembrance Cup league table.

A first-ever Trowbridge League goal for Seamus Nickless-Mooney gave Combe a half-time lead. Matt Dyer earned Warminster their point with the equaliser on 55 minutes.
