NEIKELL Plummer got both goals as Bradford Town beat Shepton Mallet on Easter Monday.

The win was a good response to their late defeat at home to local rivals Melksham Town on Good Friday.

Plummer put Bradford ahead early on but they failed to make the most of their dominance before the break.

That allowed Conrad Peck to pull Shepton level, although Plummer bagged his second to snatch the points 20 minutes from time.

Bradford boss Paul Shanely said: “I was delighted with the performance.

“We had a number of players missing with illness and injury and Shepton have got a lot of experience in their squad.

“We dominated the game and could have been three or four goals up at half-time.

“They then got back into it but we showed a lot of character to come back and win it.

“The big thing for me was that we had two under 18s in the squad. One of them, Sam Phillips, played his first game at this level with an hour at left-back and did really, really well.”

Bradford have four games left this season, the first three of which are at home, starting against Bristol Manor Farm on Saturday.

Shanley added: “I think we have won 12 away from home and only lost two but for whatever reason at home we haven’t been at that level.

“Hopefully we can set that right over the next few weeks and we’d love to finish in the top six, that would be a tremendous achievement for us.”
