WESTBURY United’s last season may have come to an end more than three months ago but last weekend, the club finally held their 2014-2015 presentation evening.

Special appreciation awards were presented to former chairman Paul Brickley and Chris Andrews, as well as Viv and Karen Gardiner for their efforts on matchdays.

Westbury United end-of-season awards were: Manager’s player: Gary Tugwell; Players’ player: Sam Clift; Supporters’ player: Callum Hotine; Most improved: Callum Hotine; Top scorer: Mark Young; Most appearances: Grant Gunning; Clubman: Toby McElhone.

WESTBURY were beaten 5-1 at home by Sydenhams League Premier Division outfit Horndean on Wednesday night and last weekend, Shaun Gardiner’s men played out a goalless draw with a Melksham Town XI at Meadow Lane.

Toolstation League champions Melksham Town continued their pre-season preparations as they were bested 2-1 at Southern League Larkhall Athletic on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, Bradford Town drew 0-0 at Chippenham Park and on the weekend, they also shared a goalless draw with Larkhall at Trowbridge Road.

Corsham Town, who lost 2-0 to Chippenham Town last weekend, defeated Hellenic League Highmoor Ibis 4-3 on Tuesday, whilst Warminster Town travelled to Gloucestershire County League side AEK Boco and came back from two goals down to draw 2-2, Louis Sparey scoring twice.

On Saturday, Melksham host Paulton Rovers whilst Corsham are also up against Southern League opposition as they travel to Swindon Supermarine.

Warminster are due to host Shaftesbury Town.

FROME Town have bolstered their defensive options by bringing in experienced full-back Jake Gardner from Larkhall Athletic.

Gardner has previously featured for Chippenham Town and Longwell Green Sports and his arrival looks set to help soften the blow of Rhys Baggridge’s impending departure, with the former Salisbury City man set to sign for Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division rivals Merthyr Town.

On Tuesday night, new signing Joe Tumelty and Brad Mills were on target as Adrian Foster’s men were held to a 2-2 draw at Toolstation League Street whilst Lewis Haldane and Ollie Taylor netted during Saturday’s 2-1 win at Bridgwater Town.

The Robins’ next pre-season assignment is a home clash against National League outfit Gosport Borough next Tuesday evening.
