JOINT-MANAGER Derek Graham would love to see his Warminster Town side continue to ride on the crest of the wave they kicked up at the tail-end of last season.

Warminster finished 16th in the Toolstation League First Division last term and ended the campaign in rude health after going unbeaten in seven of their last eight games of the season.

Graham will once again take charge at Weymouth Street in tandem with fellow boss Andy Crabtree and with his young side a year older and hopefully a year wiser, the Warminster joint-chief is hopeful that his troops will pick up where they left off.

“We had a young side last season and they’re a year older now,” said Graham.

“You have to grow up in the Western League because it’s not the type of league where you can get away with being a pretty player.

“We were really good at the end of last season and with the team we’ve got, I’d be pretty disappointed if we didn’t finish in the top half.

“It’s going to be tough because it’s always a really tough league but I think we can do well.

“We’ve had really good numbers at training but we obviously haven’t been able to bring them all in. But everyone’s signed on from last year, apart from Bryan Smith, who isn’t playing at the moment because of his knee.

“We will have a few lads away at university sometimes during the season but that’s just the way it is.”

Warminster have moved to bolster their squad by bringing in former Frome Town and Bradford Town defender Josh Brigham whilst young midfielder Ryan Fry has also joined Graham and Crabtree’s side.

They begin their campaign on Saturday with a home clash against Bristol outfit Ashton & Backwell United, who finished seventh in the table last term.
