TROWBRIDGE Town are targeting the title but manager Kieran Baggs is laughing off any suggestions that his team will be sauntering to glory.

Trowbridge finished third in the table last term and, after a summer of bolstering their ranks with more players with Western League experience, Baggs’ men are being tipped as one of the favourites for the crown.

But the Town boss is keen to keep his side’s feet on the ground, but thinks that if anyone is expecting Trowbridge to realise their ambitions with consummate ease, they’re wide of the mark.

“Some people are saying that we’re the favourites but it’s not going to be easy and we’re not going to walk it,” said Baggs.

“The club has ambition to try and win the league and when the time is right, we’d love to try and go up to the Western League.

“We’ve signed plenty more players with experience of playing in the Western League and people like Dan Fowler and James Vincent have signed on for another year, which is great.

“But we can’t get carried away. We can’t be egotistical or have an attitude.

“We’ve played teams from the First Division of the Western League before and there isn’t that much difference between that and the Wilts Prem. It’s a good league and it’s going to be tough.”

Trowbridge have added defenders Lee Davidson and Dan Shanley to their squad from Shepton Mallet and Bradford Town respectively, whilst Shaun Percival has also made the switch from Bradford.

Striker Nick Ridout has moved to Woodmarsh from Melksham Town Reserves.

Trowbridge start the new season at home to Wroughton on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
