MELKSHAM Town boss Darren Perrin was livid with players after seeing them throw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with 10-man Bitton in the Premier Division.

Melksham opened the scoring from a corner when Gary Higdon has got in front of his marker to bundle Ben Thomson’s cross home from close range.

Town doubled their lead from the penalty spot after Dan Kovacs was bundled over in the box clean through and the forward picked himself up to convert from 12 yards.

Bitton were then reduced to 10 men with half an hour of the game to go and Melksham looked in control until 10 minutes from the end.

Both Eugene Keary and Sacha Tong scored for the visitors in the final 10 minutes of the game to leave Town with just a point and Perrin thinking of what could have been.

“It was criminal by us,” said the Conigre boss.

“We were 2-0 up and Bitton were down to 10 men and then obviously we lost some concentration and we lost everything.

“They pulled a goal back through a mistake and then scored with literally two seconds to go.

“It felt like a defeat let alone a draw.

“To be fair it has been coming. In the last couple of weeks we have been dominating games and, when we haven’t seen games out, we become a little bit complacent and finally it has come to kick us back on the backsides.

“We can only have ourselves to blame.”
