AFTER suffering a 3-1 defeat against Westbury Town in the Wiltshire Junior Cup, Heytesbury unexpectedly found themselves hosting Swindon League outfit Ramsbury for a place in the quarter-finals.
The villagers were handed another bite of the cherry after Westbury unknowingly fielded an ineligible player in the previous round and they took full advantage of it, winning 5-1 to set up trip to D.I United.
Heytesbury took the lead on six minutes when Aaron Donaldson converted a Brendan Hind corner.
It was 2-0 on the half hour mark, Shaun Tarr making the most of a mix-up in the Ramsbury defence.
An excellent individual effort from Ashley Caws in the 34th minute gave Heytesbury a 3-0 interval lead.
It was game over on 52 minutes, Shaun Tarr being on hand to turn in a Hind cross for 4-0 and with time running out Kieron Edwards tucked home a pinpoint Leigh Kennedy corner.
Heytesbury’s keeper Sam Spratt was denied a clean sheet when the unfortunate Chris Baker put through his on net in injury time to hand Ramsbury a consolation.
