FRESHFORD United booked their place in the quarter-finals of this seasons Somerset Junior Cup after seeing of a spirited challenge from Bristol & Suburban League side Hydez Futebol Club.
Chris Birleson’s side battled again the driving rain and their opponents at Brown’s Park but were well worth their 4-0 success.
Dave Percival put the home team in front when he scored from the penalty spot after Dean Ranger had been fouled.
Ranger himself made it 2-0, after picking the ball up in midfield he unleashed a thunderbolt to double his teams advantage prior to half time.
It was game over for Hydez shortly after the restart, Percival scored from the spot for a second time to make it 3-0 and he got to keep the match ball when he connected with a Steve Roddy cross to claim his third and Freshford’s fourth of the afternoon.
