TWO-TIME defending Division One champions Freshford United’s only league defeat of the season to date came back in October when they suffered an 8-4 loss at the hands of Aces FC.

When the teams met in the return clash, Freshford avenged their earlier loss thanks to a 4-1 win, but they had to come from behind to claim their victory.

Steve Tuke put Aces ahead but his goal was cancelled out by Jason Povey who squared things up before half time following a fine assist from Nick Ross.

After the break Freshford bagged three unanswered goals, the first coming from Ross who hit the target after good work from Povey.

Ross made it 3-1 from a Tom Rooney assist and the points were made safe when Rooney picked out Povey who fired in his second of the game to see off Mike Little’s Aces.

Heytesbury had already completed a cup and league double over fellow villagers Hilperton United ahead of their meeting at Heytesbury Park and, thanks to a 5-1 victory, Gavin Hind’s hosts managed to maintain their hoodoo over Tony Stevens' side to claim a hat-trick of wins over their rivals.

Heytesbury led on 17 minutes, a Jamie Howse back-heel fell to Ashley Caws who cross picked out Leigh Kennedy who fired in from 12 yards to give his team the lead.

Kennedy turned provider for Heytesbury’s second which came on 30 minutes, his corner to the near post was tapped home by Jamie Hoswe.

Hilperton halved the deficit in the 34th minute, Ryan Underwood finding the net for the visitors.

Heytesbury pulled further in front on 62 minutes, Shaun Tarr delivering a defence splitting pass to Ashley Caws who finished well to make it 3-1.

Five minutes later the hosts added a fourth, as another Kennedy corner bobbled to Kieron Edwards who managed to turn it in with his knee.

The points were made safe in the 74th minute, Kennedy heading home a far post cross from Bradley Edwards to claim his second of the afternoon to cap what was a five-star performance from the home team.
