BRADFORD Town boss Paul Shanley was left feeling hard done by after his team were beaten 2-0 by Buckland Athletic on the road.

The Trowbridge Road side started well in Devon but found themselves behind after 20 minutes in this Premier Division encounter when home skipper Simon Revell scored from the penalty spot.

Bradford battled back but were unable to make any inroads on the scoreboard and their fate was sealed five minutes from time when Shane Gill doubled Buckland's advantage.

"It’s a tough place to go but I couldn’t have asked for any more from the players," said Shanley.

"We put in a decent performance and a decent first 25 minutes, creating a few chances but we didn’t take them.

"We then gave away to soft penalty to fall behind but in the second half Jack Hopper had a really decent effort that just went past the post.

"We more than matched them all over the park but when you create a few chances, you need to make sure you score one of them.

"We pushed for an equaliser and we got caught on the break in the last 10 minutes to give away a second goal.

"I don’t think the score reflected the game - our performance was probably worth a draw.

"We had a number of players missing and were down to the bare bones but the boys all put a decent shift in and I’m proud of how we played. "

Bradford are back at home on Saturday and entertain third-placed Willand Rovers.

Shanley added: “We are chopping and changing the team at the moment because of injuries and suspensions so that does make it difficult.

"Saturday will be tough but if we perform like we have done in the last couple of games then we are capable of getting a result."
